June Must Haves

This month my must-haves are all Japanese beauty products I’d like to try. If you saw my post on Tuesday about the Canmake lip balm you’d know I have a new love for Japanese beauty products. Everything in my monthly must-haves can be purchased from W Cosmetics- wcosmetics.com.au

There are no affiliate links contained in this post. This is genuinely just a post about things I want to try.

Lips
As those who read my last post would know, canmake is my first Japanese beauty brand that I have tried and I am hooked. This has made me want to try more Japanese beauty products. Canmake has this thing called a Jelly Stick Gloss. Is it jelly? Is it lipgloss? I don’t know but the name sounds exciting I need to try it! You can also try it with me. You can get it here.

Eyebrows
Another Canmake product that has sparked my interest is there colour change eyebrow. The Japanese focus on natural looking eyebrows which I personally prefer and all I use is eyeshadow. I have never used an eyebrow product since I don’t really need them. This, however, looks quite exciting and I think could work well for me. You can get it here.

Oral
One thing I really want to try is flavoured toothpaste. In Australia, the only flavour toothpaste we have is mint which yeah I guess that’s nice. I did, however, find a Raspberry flavoured toothpaste by Cafell which has really intrigued me. I am not sure how raspberry toothpaste would taste. You can also try it for yourself and get it here.

Have you guys tried any Japanese cosmetics? If so what can you recommend?

That’s all from me.

The Eyeshadow Pallete That Everyone Loves

Why is this eye shadow Palette loved by so many? Well..

The Zoeva opulence palette has been popping up all over my socials lately and I just can’t seem to escape it. On top of that, I haven’t seen a bad review on it either which sparked my interest more. As my long-time followers would know, my eyeshadow skills need some work so I have never really lashed out on decent palettes.

*This product was given to me via PR* When I got this I do have to admit I was pretty excited since I do want to get better at my eyeshadow skills.

fullsizerender

The Opulence Eyeshadow Palette
This beautiful palette combines both Matte and Metallic shades resulting in an elegant yet trendy colour selection.  The rich hues and dramatic shades these shadows bring this palette to life reminding me of spring. The Zoeva Opulence palette has ten highly pigmented eyeshadow shades perfect for both natural and extravagant looks. From beautiful rosy copper hues to delicate ivory dahlias to the most vibrant of royal blue, the shade range on this palette is perfect for any occasion.

What makes this eyeshadow even better is that it is full of vitamin E and is free of nasty parabens, mineral oils, perfume and phthalates making it delicate enough not to affect the skin around the eyes which is super important to me.

Packaging
The packaging of this eyeshadow palette is breathtaking. The Black background with the beautiful flowers and the hint of gold running through the packaging gives this eyeshadow a luxurious feel. It also reminds me of spring as do all the colours in the palette. It has a beautiful sleeve that holds the palette closed which has the exact same design on it which I really like. Whilst there is no mirror in this palette which is kind of disappointing, the quote on the lid- sometimes more is simply more, is a nice touch. Reading it made me smile.

The packaging and presentation of this palette is truly a work of art in itself.

Texture
These eyeshadows have a lovely powdery soft texture. They are finely milled not only making the powder super soft but making it very easy to apply.

Colours
The colours in this palette are stunning.  I like how they go from light to dark with a nice range of whites, pinks, reds, blues, browns and purples. I really like how they all work well with each other and I think would match most skin tones. I am in love with Koh-I-Noor and Get your glory. Whilst they are both very bold colours I think that they are absolutely stunning.
img_5330img_5331

Application
I recommend preparing your eyelids first with an eyeshadow primer or a concealer. I prefer concealer since I have dark eyes. Let it set and then apply the eyeshadow, blending softly. I find that all of the colours are highly pigmented and blend out super easily.

There is little to no fallout and I found when blending it really does not take much effort. All of the colours blend in perfectly with each other making this a great palette for beginners and veterans to eyeshadow.

Price
Coming in at $40.00 AUD that is a pretty good deal for such amazing quality. You can get it here.

Results
These eyeshadows are amazing. I love how they have a good range of colours as well as a nice spread of matte and shimmers. There isn’t any colour in this palette that I won’t use making this palette perfect. I have never really had a palette where all the colours are something I would use constantly. They blend so easily and I found it super easy to combine all different colours to make a look. I have done a few looks which I will post a tutorial on in the future.

img_5314

I can see why this palette is all the rage. It is so easy to use and the colours are stunning. I highly recommend this to everyone!! I think that all the colours would look good on most skin types!

That’s all from me.

The Cutest Japanese Lipbalm

For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with all things Japanese. I love their culture, their food and their values. Despite my deep love for Japan I have never actually tried any Japanese cosmetics which now that I think about it is kind of silly. I mean my other love is beauty so why did I not think to combine the two in the past? Well, I did and I tell you what I do not regret it!

Canmake is a cute Japanese cosmetic company! They make the cutest looking products that are actually really good! I find that Japanese beauty focuses more on the natural side with lots of pinks, peaches and shimmers to naturally enhance your features. I tried the Canmake stay-on balm.

Canmake Stay-on Balm
With the Canmake stay-on balm being my first experience into Japanese beauty I have to say I found it very unique. It’s a lip balm that is pigmented. Unlike most western pigmented lip balms that have a slight barely noticeable colour that fades super fast, the can make stay-on blam is very pigmented!

Not only does it provide much-needed moisture and UV protection to lips (which is a must) but it allows for that beautiful makeup finish. I like how its essential skincare or should I say lip care that’s makeup!

Packaging
Let’s talk about their packaging. UHG IT IS SO CUTE. I love the fact that it’s so bright and happy with a beautiful floral pattern that reflects each shade. Unlike western products which focus more on a sleek luxury packaging, I like how this packaging has its own cute personality!

The lip balm itself comes in the classic wind up, cream bullet for easy application. I prefer when lip balms come in a cream bullet form rather than in a pot or the squeezy applicators. I find this way I won’t apply too much.

Smell
I was really surprised that this lip balm had no smell. Looking so bright and colourful I just assumed that it would have a strong smell but I was wrong! I sort of have mixed feelings about products that have smells. I personally prefer if they don’t have any smell but if they have a slight smell that’s okay. I feel as if products that have no smell work better. Why do I think that I’m not sure?

Shades
What really surprised me is how many shades that there were. There are 9 beautiful shades mainly in the pink/peach spectrum but there are a few purple-pink colours. The shade that I have is flowery princess which might I just add what a cute name! Most of the names are floral related and I think that is super cute.

img_5375

Price
How much do you think that Japanese cosmetics would be? I personally assumed that they would be quite expensive but I was surprisingly wrong. I got this though W cosmetics which is a lovely store that is both online and Located in Brisbane that stocks all the best Japanese and Korean beauty brands!

Not only do they have a wide range, they are super affordable. This lip balm was only $15AUD which is so cheap! For the quality of it, I was blown away! You can get it here.

Results
The results of this lip blam are breathtaking. Not only is the colour AMAZING but they instantly make my lips feel soft. I also really like how they give your lips a slightly glossy shine which I think make my lips look plumper.

What made me giggle was on the W cosmetics website, under the description it says that this lip balm will satisfie even the most demanding women and I can certainly say it would! It has so many natural ingredients that are amazing for you like jojoba oil, olive oil, rosehip oil, grapeseed oil, macadamia nut oil, pomegranate oil.

I seriously recommend you give this a go! I give this a 5/5.

That’s all from me.

The Return of Lipgloss

At the end of last year, many beauty gurus predicted the return of lipgloss, something that I was dreading. I use to HATE lipgloss. My hair would always get stuck to my lips, but to be fair I was 10 and using super cheap lipgloss. Revlon was kind enough to send me some goodies, one of them being the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in the Shade Sugar Violet.

img_5256

More About Super Lustrous Lipgloss
Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipgloss is a beautiful non-stick silky gloss that is super moisturising to the lip. It has a beautiful shine and has a lovely hint of colour. There are 10 beautiful shades!

Packaging
The packaging is beautiful. It has the classic Revlon black and gold but then the tube is clear so you can see the beautiful colour!

img_5253

Texture
The texture of this lipgloss is super silky and soft. It doesn’t feel wet or sticky, more like a thin lip balm.

Application
As with your classic lipgloss, it comes with the little wand in the lid. The gloss glides on perfectly and isn’t too pigmented. It can be worn over lipstick or on its own. When applying over lipstick it does not move the lipstick which mm I can’t stand if my lippy moves. It is super nice on its own as its slightly pigmented and super shiny making your lips look luxurious.

img_5257

Price
Coming in at $22.95 it’s not a bad buy. You can get it here.

Overall
I really love this lipgloss. Not only is it super easy to wear and isn’t sticky one bit, it can be used on its own or on top of a lipstick. I really like the glitter it has in it which just makes your lips look stunning. I also like how it makes my lips look bigger and fuller than they really are. Overall I give this a 4/5. It is safe to say that I am super happy that lipgloss is back all thanks to this one lipgloss that has changed the game for me.

Are you excited that lipgloss is back?

That’s all from me.

The secret to AMAZING Curls

I got a perm. I know what your thinking, aren’t perm for old ladies and people wanting to relive the 80s? Nope, you’re wrong. Perms have evolved with the times, that is they can be done with big or small rollers, loose or tight. For me, I got a loose spiral curl to give my flat boring lifeless hair more volume and let me tell you it did the trick. What I didn’t realise, however, is how different caring for curly hair is.

Washing, Brushing and styling are a lot harder, especially if you are not used to working with curly hair. What you use is critical to whether your curls look moistured and bouncy or dry and fuzzy! That was a big shock to make and for a while, made me regret my decision. My curls were a fuzzy mess and I just wanted to cry. Never fear I found the answer. The one thing that really saved my life and made me love my hair was the John Frieda Dream Curls Frizz Ease shampoo!

What makes it so good?
This shampoo adds much-needed moisture to curls whilst combatting frizzy hair. It’s infused with Abyssinian Oil which is an ultralight non-greasy oil amazing for adding moisture to hair and skin! This shampoo will combat any type of frizz from mild fuzz to a crazy afro! It is also safe for coloured hair!

Packaging
I love all of John Frieda’s packaging. I like how this comes in a squeezy bottle with the opening at the bottom to make for easy application and to stop the shampoo from being stuck at the top.

Application
So I like to apply this to the top of my head and wash only half the way down my hair. I don’t like to add it to the ends of my hair since when you rinse it off it will go to the ends anyways. I find that this works the best for my hair since my hair can be quite dry. I like to lather for about a minute or two and then rinse with lukewarm to cold water. After it is rinsed I apply either the Frizz-ease conditioner or the cool dip beach blonde conditioner again by John Frieda. I find that washing my hair this way leaves my curls looking amazing!

Price
Coming in at $16 AUD it’s worth every cent for perfect hair. You can get it here.

Overall
Without this shampoo, I can honestly say I would have regretted getting a perm. Would I get a perm again? Not sure yet. Does this shampoo help with curls. HELL YES. If you have a perm, frizzy hair or natural curls you need this in your life.

That’s all from me.

Let’s talk about Acrylic Nails!!

Happy Sunday guys! If only it could always be Sunday.

For the last few months, my latest obsession has been Acrylic Nails. It all started the week before my 21st birthday. My younger sister has had acrylics for ages and they just look so nice but they kind of scared me. I have super ugly nails, their square and manly in my opinion so I thought why not let’s go all out. From there I was hooked.

But what are Acrylic Nails?
Acrylic nails are fake nails. They are a powder acrylic that is set using UV/LED light. If you want longer nails then its no problem they glue on a tip and then add the Acrylic ontop which is what I did when I first got them.

Are they bad for you?
Well, it really depends. If you are smart about it then it’s fine. First of all, you would want to go to a salon that uses LED lights rather than UV lights.
Secondly, you’d want to go to a clean salon. If it looks dodgy don’t bother.
Finally whilst they do weaken your nails there is a reason for that. Your nails are 1) being sanded down at first to create an even surface and 2) not being exposed to air/nutrients since their covered so of course, they are going to weaken. But its okay because the new nail that grows, given it is not covered by acrylic will be normal so if you are wanting to get rid of your acrylics, let your nails grow out a bit and then get them removed and cut short.

Do acrylics hurt?
When you first get them yes they do for about a day. If you have never had them then it kind of makes sense. It is your nail bed getting used to having weight constantly on them. Don’t worry it goes away.

Is it hard to do things with them?
Yes and no. It is IMPOSSIBLE to pick up things like cards and coins if you drop them on the floor and you can’t really pop pimples or pick your face (which is why I kept them). Normal things like writing, texting, typing, cooking etc. is no problem. It is just a case of getting used to them.

How do you look after them?
I apply moisturiser and nail oil to my hands every night to help keep the nail bed hydrated. I clean underneath as much as possible since they are longer right now, they can get pretty gross underneath if you don’t. I also get then refilled once a month. Other than that I don’t really do anything to look after them. I have broken them (the same one twice in one week) because I got it caught in a door at my job (yes both times).

Do they chip?
I have rarely had a nail chip. I always get shellac on top since it is fairly long lasting. I find having a matte top coat will cause them to chip a little towards the end of the month but the only real issue you get with how they look is when they are growing out.

Let’s take a trip down my nail memory lane.

img_4460
The first nails I got done in January.
img_4558
These were the next ones I got done in Febuary. These were colour changing they went from orange to purple.
img_4694
In March I was feeling a plane dark nail with shimmer. The lady cut all the length off my nails. I was devastated.
img_4816
In April I went like something shiny so I got a holo powder with a cute red!
img_5111
These are my current nails. Matte black with a rose gold shimmer nail. I like this picture because the rose quarts matches my rose gold nail.

Do you have acrylic nails?

That’s all from me.

Is This The Best Micellar Water?

Micellar water is my favourite thing right now. Not only is it amazing at removing makeup but I like the fresh feeling it gives my skin! I do however hate micellar water that smells chemically or is too strong which many on the market nowadays are like. I have only had luck with two and let me tell you the Avene micellar water is my favourite!

img_4859

What actually is micellar water?
Micellar water is made up of little particles called micelles which are tiny balls of cleansing oils.  They are attracted to oil and dirt and work like a magnet to pull gunk from your pores. Since the balls are suspended in distilled water they are strong enough to pull out dirt and oil from your skin, but they are diluted enough not to affect the natural oils that your face needs to stay soft.

What makes Avene’s so different?
Avene’s micellar water is formulated to not only remove dirt and oil from your skin but to be calming and gentle on the skin. If you have sensitive skin this is a must. Since most of Avene’s products use thermal water, it really helps to soothe the skin. If you are like me and sometimes suffer from super red irritated skin anything soothing is a godsend.

What skin type is this for?
The Avene micellar water is best for people with oily yet sensitive skin (MEEEE) however, it can be used on everyone. I do recommend doing a patch test just to make sure!

Packaging
I love all of Avene’s packaging. It’s so simple yet elegant. Like all micellar water, it comes in a clear bottle with the pop lid for easy access and dispenses

img_4860

Application
As with most micellar water it is recommended to use cotton pads however I find micellar water works best for me by using my hands (clean hands of course!) and just tapping the water onto my face. I like to do this before cleansing since I feel like them micellar helps to break down the particles of dirt and makeup in my face. You don’t need to rinse the micellar water off making it super easy to use!

Smell
The smell of this is just beautiful. It almost smells like baby powder which makes me feel as if I’m soft and clean. I think the smell is very soothing.

Price
Coming in at $24.99 for 400ml that is a bargain. Let me tell you now, you won’t be running out any time soon. You can get it here.

Results
This micellar water leaves your skin feeling fresh clean and soft. I really like how you can see your makeup slowly dissolving when you apply this. Not only does it look cool, but it makes it feel like its really working. Do you guys get like that with products you can see doing something or is it just me?

Overall
Yasss

I have been a massive fan of micellar water for years. It is just so easy to use and so effective. There are so many different brands on the market, but if you are like me and have oily yet sensitive skin you know the struggles! This has been a godsend and has helped me so much by controlling my oils and even preventing breakouts. I give this a 5/5!

Let me know if you have tried this in the comments!

That’s all from me.
